Great news for women farmers. The government aims to increase milk procurement from dairy cooperatives by 50 percent in the next five years. This will increase the income of women farmers.

Union Minister Amit Shah has launched ‘White Revolution 2.0’, taking a major step towards transforming the country’s dairy cooperative sector. It is considered a big step to empower women farmers and create employment opportunities.

The focus is on four key areas, empowering women farmers, increasing milk production, strengthening dairy infrastructure, and promoting milk exports. This program is one of the three initiatives launched in the first 100 days of the Modi government’s third term.

Addressing the gathering, Shah said, “Most of the women are engaged in the dairy sector, some doing a business of Rs 60,000 crore in Gujarat alone.

This new initiative will further strengthen women’s empowerment and the fight against malnutrition. The Minister also inaugurated the launch of the RuPay Kisan credit card for dairy farmers across the country and the installation of micro-ATMs in dairy cooperatives. Besides, he issued an SOP for the computerization of 67,930 PACS.

The government aims to increase milk procurement by milk cooperatives by 50 percent in the next five years. The plan includes forming and strengthening 100,000 new and existing District Co-operatives, Multi-District District Co-operatives, and Multi-District PACS, which will be linked to the milk route with the necessary infrastructure. Initially, the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) will fund this resource from its resources, with Rs 40,000 per 1,000 M-packs.

While ensuring full budgetary support for the program is a top priority for the government, Shah said, “Many people are apprehensive about whether the Habitat Revolution 2.0 will get adequate budgetary support. As this is a priority area for the government, I am assuring full budgetary support for it.”

The minister announced that the ‘Cooperation among Co-operatives’ initiative, which was successfully piloted in Gujarat, will be extended nationwide. Under the program, dairy farmers will be provided with interest-free cash loans through RuPay Kisan Credit Cards and micro-ATMs will be provided to dairy cooperatives, thereby bringing banking services to farmers’ doorsteps.
